Cast glass is for me a living medium and the figure cast in glass only enhances the presence of life within. These objects were cast from living models utilizing the lost wax process, Making an impression with a dental alginate material or, a two part latex material producing a negative of the face and from there made a wax positive. Zicar ceramic, sand or silica plaster mold material formed around the wax producing another negative mold, one where lead crystal or soda lime glass was then formed into the mold by kiln casting with lead crystal glass or poured into the sand / plastermold with 2000 degree ladle cast soda lime glass. These object were up to 8 inches thick and some remained in the annealing oven for more than 14 days. The figure, especially the face is a medium I do not study much. Where a face can become a bit cliche’ , difficult to transpose into an object of art that functions as a dichotomy of critical objective observation. It is after all... just a face... Although, I hope this work may bring an emotive response, considering pose and purpose, one might relate or reflect their own personal reality for the work, realizing a new or distant memory.
